No Mountain High Enough

My Son Lance

It seemed so appropriate to provide a special place on my site for my son, Lance. But first I have to clear up something. I never knew about the fireballs. Obviously, if I had known that my 12-year old son was lighting tennis balls on fire and batting them around the yard with oven mitts, I would have been all over his case. No, I read about it in his autobiography just like the rest of the world. That’s the kind of thing you just don’t anticipate as a parent. Because when you’re expecting a baby, you’re not expecting fireballs!

There are three things that make me particularly proud. Number one – I make a mean seafood gumbo. It is good enough to burn your house down! Number two – through my career, I played a role in advancing a technology that changed people’s lives for the better. But most importantly, I am the mother of a good man. In addition to all he’s achieved in his career, he’s a wonderful daddy and an excellent human being. He’s raised millions of dollars for cancer research and personally reached out to thousands of his fellow survivors. He continues to inspire me every day.

Thank goodness I was a young Mom! Keeping up with his schedule will make your head swim. Lance always finds time for his children and growing family. Having bonus sister’s and one brother along with spouses and children, we have a happy family. Something both Lance and I always wanted in our life.
